MelonPatch is a small indie software studio. We build AI-powered tools that we actually want to use. That's it. That's the whole pitch.
Why we started
We kept running into the same problem: the tools we wanted didn't exist, or the ones that did were bloated with features nobody asked for. So we started building our own. Not to disrupt an industry or chase a trend, but because we had real problems and wanted real solutions. If other people find them useful too, even better.
What we believe
We have a few principles that guide how we work:
- Build things we'd use ourselves. If we don't need it, we don't make and ship it. Every product starts with a problem one of us actually has.
- Ship small, iterate fast. We'd rather put something focused into your hands quickly than spend a year building something massive nobody asked for.
- No bloat. Every feature has to earn its place. If it doesn't make the product meaningfully better for the person using it, it doesn't ship.
What we're working on
Our first product is an AI-powered ebook reader for iOS, built specifically for language learners. We wanted a reader where you could tap any word, get a translation that actually understands the context, hear how it's pronounced, and save it for later review. The apps that exist today either do one of those things well or try to do all of them badly. We think we can do better.
What to expect from this blog
We'll post here when we have something worth saying. Product updates, design decisions, things we learned along the way. No filler, no weekly posts for the sake of posting. When something meaningful happens, you'll hear about it here.
Thanks for stopping by. We're glad you're here.
More soon.
